2 Ways To Get A Clogged Drain Working Again

If you have a clogged drain, you want to do everything you can in order to get it unclogged as soon as possible. There are some things that you can do on your own, but a really stubborn drain is going to need to have a professional come out and look at it so that they can get the drained cleared out for you. So what are some things that you can do on your own to see if you can get the drain working?

Plunger

One thing that you can do is to try a plunger. The plunger will help to cause pressure to go down into the pipes and put that pressure on the clog to break it up and move it along. You want to make sure that you are using the right plunger. There are different kinds, and they have different purposes. The black plungers with a flange on them are the ones that are designed to work for toilets. The flange is designed to go down into the drain part of the toilet so that it can create a solid seal in order to create the pressure you are looking for. The type you want to use on your sink is just a basic plunger with a simple cup. Just place it over the drain, make sure you have a solid seal, and then start plunging. If you are plunging a double sink, you might want to cover the other drain so that stuff doesn't come back up the other side.

Drain Cleaner

There are also chemical drain cleaners that you can pour down the drain. You want to be very careful when you use any of these cleaners because they are caustic and could hurt you if they were to splash up on you or if you use them incorrectly. Make sure that you read the directions and use them exactly as directed. If the drain cleaners don't work and your drain still isn't working and you decide to call a plumber, you want to make sure that you let them know that you used drain cleaner because they need to know that those chemicals are in the pipes so that they can take precautions.

If you are worried about a drain that isn't working, there are things that you can do in order to get your clogged drain working again. If they don't work, then you can call a plumber for clogged drain cleaning and have them deal with the problem.
